Hiring Boats and visiting crews

Hiring Boats

The club can rent boats out to crews coming down for the large head races (Fours Head, Womens Head of the River and the Mean's Head of the River and any master's equivalent) and we may be able to make boats available for other regattas depending on trailer space.

  • We give preference to crews who have historically rented from us, followed by crews from abroad and student crew.
  • We rent boats of the same type for the same price and do not differentiate based on age or make - this is typically around £20 per seat per day depending on the event and arrangements made with you.
  • We will try and give you an indication of the boat we are likely to be able to allocate if you do rent from us, but this is subject to change and will be influenced by the experience of the cox/steersperson.
  • Coxes will need to have their cox box and a life jacket.
  • Unless agreed we expect you will have your own blades.
  • You are welcome to keep your boats in the general vicinity of the club, subject to rules of the competition and local parking restrictions, but we cannot store boats inside the club.
  • We understand that you need to make arragnements early, but we cannot make boats available until our own crews are settled.  For the various Eights heads we will not respond before 2 January as we won't know how many crews we are likely to have until after that date.

Visiting Crews

We are generally happy to host visiting crews and make available the changing rooms and bar.  For the big heads we do seek a donation from visiting crews as we're generally highly oversubscribed.  However we're planning to offer a package so that visiting crews can obtain discounted entry to the legendary party after each of the main races.

Outside those races we are generally happy to host clubs visiting during normal club rowing hours.
